All they could do was scream as their last moments were followed by the sounds of savage beings sinking their teeth into their necks and ripping flesh out.
"Everyone run!" Someone shouted amid the chaos and people began to push each other down.
Eight seemingly dead creatures -- human in resemblance -- broke through the doors that limped on sinuous hinges covered in blood and gore.
Another creature grabbed one of the high school girls that had fallen to the ground in the mad dash to the back and another girl was pinned to the wall by the chairs that littered the floor.
"Please, someone help me!"
JC turned around and noticed that Abhi had no where to run.
"Please, someone!" She pleaded as the creatures came closer. JC knew he couldn't help her. He closed his eyes as he heard her final scream and continued to the back. A few people lay dead in the narrow hallway, casualties of the stampede.
"Oh my god!" Lauren Norris said seeing the lifeless body of Andrew who was slumped over the sink having been suffocated by the deluge of people running, and of another girl whose face was smashed into the refrigerator and thus unidentifiable.
"What's going on?!" Susie peered out from the attic. She squinted through the darkness and only saw bodies rushing past the office door.
"Go, go, go!" Suddenly Lauren Hewins appeared climbing up the ladder, Courtney right behind her crying. Susie rolled over allowing Lauren to climb up. One of the creatures came into the office as the girls were climbing up the ladder.
"Hurry up!" Courtney cried. She was only on the third rung when the creature grabbed her right foot. "Let go of me!" Now sounding desperate. Lauren and Susie both pulled at her arms, but the creature had already slashed her body. Courtney's eyes rolled back as her fingers let go of the ladder and she fell back into the creature's hungry arms.
"Close the door!!" Lauren screamed as Susie pulled the ladder up trapping them inside the attic.
Once outside people scattered in two directions, a large group making a left and a smaller group making a right. Jiko and Owen ran past everyone through the empty parking lot while more trailed behind them.
JC turned around when he heard screaming and saw the large group confronted by more of the creatures. A few managed to break from the pack and run in all directions but most were killed right there.
"JC hurry up!" Nina yelled pulling his arm. He had no idea what was going on.
"Oh my God!" Von could be heard throughout the parking lot, his cry the sound of a hungry wolf.
JC and Nina kept running as they heard more blood chortling screams from those that couldn't keep up. They could see the blurry faces, scared, of those ahead of them. It was all confusion.
What has happened to the world? What was going to happen to them?
